Buying in Boa Vista

Boa Vista is Cabo Verde's third-largest island and one of its main beach destinations, known for vast white-sand shores and Sahara-like dunes. Its capital, Sal Rei, combines a relaxed island town with easy access to the resort coast.

The island has a wild, desert feel - the Viana dunes, long empty beaches such as Praia de Chaves and Santa Mónica, and one of the Atlantic's most important loggerhead turtle nesting sites. Sal Rei is the main town, with colonial architecture, local markets and a seafront, while Aristides Pereira International Airport near Rabil brings direct flights from several European cities. Much of the coastal development sits within designated tourism zones (ZDTI) built around large beachfront resorts.

Like Sal, Boa Vista mainly attracts holiday-home and investment buyers looking at apartments, villas and resort units, often with rental use in mind. Because the economy is heavily tourism-led, beach proximity, access and rental demand are key considerations. Before buying, confirm the title and registration, the transfer tax (cITI) and annual property tax (cIPI), and any building permits with a notary and the relevant official authorities.
